About Benkhill Lodge
Benkhill Lodge is a care home in Bedale, North Yorkshire. We provide residential care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we can support younger adults too. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. A small market town home has a particular character. Many of the people who live here have spent their lives in this part of Yorkshire, they know one another's families, and the local connections do not stop at our front door. Visitors call in, people go out into the town, and the home stays part of the place rather than apart from it. We build our support around the individual. That means learning what somebody did for a living, what they still want to do for themselves and what they would rather hand over. It means meals people actually want and a day they recognise, not a schedule imposed on them. For people living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work. The same staff, the same rhythm, the same surroundings, and a team that understands what a person's restlessness or repeated question is really asking for. Respite is offered for the sake of carers as much as anyone. A fortnight's proper rest often makes the difference between a family carrying on at home and not being able to. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit and see how the home feels.
