About Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Everlasting Care at The Presbytery is a residential care home in Wallsend, North Tyneside, supporting younger adults, including people with a learning disability, autistic people and people who have a physical disability. This is a house where adults live, not a unit where they have been placed, and we try to keep that distinction visible in everything from the kitchen to the front door key. People have their own rooms and their own belongings, a real say in the food and the shopping, and support built around what they want their week to contain. For residents with a learning disability, support usually means doing things alongside somebody rather than for them, and being patient while a skill is genuinely learned. Cooking, managing money, keeping in touch with family, getting out locally. For autistic residents it means predictability, honest information about what is happening next, and respecting the things that make a space bearable or unbearable instead of treating them as fussiness. Where somebody has a physical disability, we make sure the equipment and the help are there so that getting out and about is never a matter of staff convenience. Communication takes most of our effort. Some people here do not use speech, and almost everything that goes wrong in settings like ours begins with somebody not being properly listened to. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Please come and visit, more than once if that helps, and meet the people who live here.

More about the care at Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Residential Care at Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Five people live here at most, which is why this Wallsend home can describe itself as a house where adults live rather than a unit where they have been placed. Residential registration means everyday living support without nurses on the premises: meals, personal care, help with medication, and a week built around what somebody actually wants in it. Health needs are met by GPs and community teams coming in, which is the practical difference from a nursing home. Residents here have their own rooms and belongings and a real say in the food and the shopping, according to Everlasting Care. Ask what happens if someone's health declines to the point of needing nursing. Ask how the house is staffed overnight.
Younger Adults at Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Fees in the North East typically run from £750 to £1000 a week, with North Tyneside usually paying between £620 and £760. In a house of five adults, who the other residents are matters enormously, because this is where someone may live for years rather than months. Ask who lives here now, what a week contains, and how much say residents have over the front door.
Learning Disability and Autism at Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Doing things alongside somebody rather than for them is how this home describes learning disability support, along with patience while a skill is genuinely learned. Cooking, money, keeping in touch with family and getting out locally are the examples given. North Tyneside would commission a placement of this kind and review it, so ask who attends those reviews and how often they happen.
Physical Disability at Everlasting Care @ The Presbytery
Getting out and about should never be a matter of staff convenience, the home says, which is a fair test of physical disability support anywhere. The rest is equipment that suits the person, personal care given without fuss, and help that stops short of taking over. Ask what adaptations the building actually has, since nothing on the public record describes it, and who reviews equipment as needs change.
