About Upton Cottage
Here at Upton Cottage, we are a residential care home based in Clevedon, North Somerset, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autism, as well as offering respite care for those who need a short break or a chance to recharge. We know that choosing a care home is not a decision anyone takes lightly, and we want to be straightforward with you from the outset. Our most recent CQC inspection resulted in a "requires improvement" rating, and we are not shying away from that. We have taken the findings seriously and are actively working through the areas identified, making real changes to the way we do things day to day. We feel it is important that families and those looking for support know this, so they can make fully informed decisions. What we can tell you honestly is that the people living here matter to us. We take time to understand each person, what they enjoy, how they communicate, what makes them feel settled and what unsettles them. For individuals with learning disabilities and autism in particular, consistency and familiarity are so important, and we work hard to provide an environment that feels calm, predictable and genuinely homely. Our respite care offers a welcoming place for people who need short term support, whether that is to give a family carer some breathing space or to help someone try out living away from home for the first time. We are a small home in a town that has a real community feel, and that suits us well. We are not trying to be everything to everyone. We are trying to do right by the people in our care, learn from our shortcomings and keep improving. If you would like to find out more or come for a visit, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
