About Florence House

Florence House is a residential care home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. The people living here include older people, younger adults and people managing mental health conditions, and we also offer respite stays for those who need somewhere settled for a shorter period or whose family carer needs a rest. Because our residents need quite different things from us, we do not run the house to a single timetable. Support is agreed with each person, around how they want their days to go and how much help they actually want. Some people here are working towards managing more for themselves. Others need steady support that does not keep changing. Both are fine by us, and we try to be careful about the difference between helping somebody and taking over, since independence is easily eroded by help that arrives too quickly. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company. Great Yarmouth is on the doorstep and we encourage people to get out, keep up with interests and stay in touch with family and friends rather than letting the house become the whole of their life. Families are welcome whenever it suits them and we keep in touch openly rather than only when there is a difficulty. If you are considering a place with us, long term or for respite, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.
