About Wensum Way

Wensum Way is a residential care home in Fakenham, Norfolk. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Having a mixed group under one roof is something we plan for rather than something that simply happens. A younger adult working towards more independence and an older resident who mainly wants a settled, unhurried day want very different things from a week, and support here is built around the individual rather than around a single house routine. What we provide is residential care. Staff are on duty through the night as well as the day to help with personal care, dressing, medication and meals, while doctors and district nurses come in for clinical needs. For autistic residents and people with a learning disability we pay particular attention to predictability. Routines that hold, clear information, honest notice before anything changes and real choice head off far more difficulty than any response after the event. Sight and hearing loss get the same practical attention, beginning with how we communicate. Respite stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round Wensum Way.
