About Sahara Lodge
Sahara Lodge is a residential care home in Newham, east London. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Newham is one of the most diverse places in the country and our home reflects that. Food, language, faith and family custom shape how settled a person feels, and we ask about these things carefully rather than assuming. Someone who can eat familiar food, observe their own practices and be understood in their first language settles far more quickly, and we plan for that from the first conversation. Our residents are adults with their own preferences and their own histories. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, mobility and getting out into the community, but the point of it is to make an ordinary life possible rather than to fill a day with tasks. Where someone communicates differently, the work of finding the right approach belongs to us. For residents with physical disabilities, we plan and equip so that mobility limits do not shrink someone's world. Getting out of the building matters. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Families, prospective residents and professionals are all welcome to visit, meet the people who live here and ask us directly how we would support the person they have in mind.
