About Prince Regent House
Prince Regent House is a residential care home in Newham, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people managing mental health conditions. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We treat this as where people live rather than where they have been placed. People arrange their own rooms, have a real say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it faster on their behalf. Being in east London has practical advantages we try to use. Buses, shops, colleges, work and places to meet people are all within reach, and supporting somebody to use them on their own terms is usually worth more than anything we could arrange indoors. Newham is also diverse in language, faith and food, and we treat that as something to build the household around rather than to accommodate at the edges. We are careful about routine and about giving notice of change, since for many of those living here that is what makes a day workable. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people who live here what they would change about the place.
