About Br3akfree Respite Care
Br3akfree Respite Care in Newham provides short stays for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite is the whole of what we do, not a sideline, and we think that shows in how we plan it. A respite stay only works if it is a proper stay for the person and a genuine break for the family. So we find out beforehand how somebody communicates, what their routine is at home, what they eat, what unsettles them and what helps them settle again. Nobody arrives here to be simply accommodated for a week. While people are with us we support personal care, help with moving safely where that is needed, and the ordinary business of a household. We also plan things to do, in the house and out in the local area, based on what the person actually enjoys rather than what is easiest to arrange. Our staff are trained in communication, in positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and in the practical skills that physical support needs require. The right equipment is in place. Families who care at home often carry on far longer than they should before asking for help. If you are thinking about respite, please get in touch and come and see us first.
