About Penerley Lodge Care Centre
Penerley Lodge Care Centre is a residential care home in Lewisham. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia and people living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We aim for a home that runs around the people in it. Rooms are personal, the day is not dictated by a timetable, and visitors are welcome at sensible hours without an appointment. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want, and our staff are there to help rather than to organise everybody into the same pattern. Support covers washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving about. For people living with dementia we keep things familiar and take our time, and we ask families to tell us about a person's life because that history is usually the key to understanding what somebody needs. Where mental ill health is part of the picture we work alongside community teams and GPs and plan with the person, in calm periods, for the times that are harder. Lewisham is a mixed and busy part of London and the people who live here reflect that, so food, language, faith and family customs are taken seriously rather than treated as extras. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round and meet the team.
