About Marvels House
Marvels House is a residential care home in Lewisham supporting adults with a learning disability or autism and adults living with mental health needs, including people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. We support younger adults, we support people living with an eating disorder, and we offer respite stays. The principle here is simple. People live in this house, so people have a say in how it runs. Rooms belong to the people in them. Support is agreed, not imposed. Staff work alongside residents rather than in charge of them, and we accept that someone changing their mind is a normal part of having a mind of their own. Communication is where we always begin. We learn how each person tells us what they need, including when that is not through speech, and we make sure information about their own life reaches them in a usable form. Predictability matters, so we plan ahead and give notice before anything changes. Where someone is living with an eating disorder, mealtimes are calm and free of confrontation and we work closely with specialist health teams rather than on our own. Respite guests are part of the household while they are here. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to look round, please contact us and we will arrange a visit.
