About Leah Lodge Care Home
Leah Lodge is a residential care home in Lewisham, south east London. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays for families needing a short break or a little time to make longer plans. The home runs on the principle that people should carry on being themselves. Residents get up when they wake, keep their own furniture and photographs with them, choose how the day is spent and keep up the habits they have always had. Families come and go as they please, and we would much rather they dropped in than waited for a convenient slot. Supporting somebody living with dementia takes patience and attention to detail, so our staff learn the particulars: the favoured chair, the songs that settle somebody, the hours of the day that are harder, the stories worth hearing again. Those things never appear in a care plan, but they are what makes a home work. When somebody's needs are changing we say so early and talk it over with the family rather than arriving with a decision already made. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking at residential or respite care in Lewisham, please arrange to visit and we will show you round properly.
