About Jennifer's Lodge
Jennifer's Lodge is a residential care home in Lewisham, south east London. We are home to older people who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for families who need a short break or a little breathing space while plans are being made. We try to run the place the way a household runs rather than the way an institution does. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, keep their own furniture and photographs around them, and carry on with the habits that make them feel themselves. Families are welcome without appointment, and we would far rather people dropped in than waited for a visiting slot. Supporting somebody with dementia asks for patience and a good memory for detail, so our staff learn the small things: which chair somebody prefers, which songs settle them, which times of day are harder. We keep our record keeping careful and our conversations with relatives frequent, particularly when someone's needs are shifting. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. We were pleased, though the part that matters more to us is what visitors tell us when they walk through the door. If you are looking at residential or respite care in Lewisham, please arrange to come and see us. We will show you round properly and answer whatever you want to ask.
