About Aster House
Aster House is a residential care home in Lewisham supporting adults living with mental health needs, and we also offer respite stays. We are a small home and our work is about stability and recovery rather than supervision. People here have their own rooms and their own routines, and support is agreed with them rather than decided about them. Staff work alongside residents, which means being consistent, being honest and being around rather than watching from a distance. We pay close attention to early signs that someone is becoming less well, and we act on them rather than waiting for things to reach a crisis. We work closely with community mental health teams rather than running something parallel to them, and we make sure the person is part of the conversation about their own care instead of the subject of it. A good day here should contain ordinary things. Meals people actually want, a routine that holds, contact with family or friends, and something worth doing. Recovery is built from that far more than from anything clinical. Respite stays are available and can give both a family and an individual a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to know more or arrange a visit, please get in touch.
