About Silver Birches
We are Silver Birches, a residential care home in Leicester. We look after older people, including those living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we would rather set that out ourselves than have you find it somewhere else. We have looked closely at what the inspection found, changed how care is planned, recorded and reviewed, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. Our progress is being monitored, and we tell relatives the same things we tell the regulator. What we are working to protect in the meantime is ordinary life here. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. What time you wake, where you take your meals, how sociable you feel today: those remain your decisions. For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail, knowing somebody's history, recognising early what unsettles them and going at their pace rather than the rota's. If you are considering Silver Birches for a relative, please come and see us and ask about the rating directly. We will give you a straight answer and show you what has changed.
