About Oval House
We are Oval House, a residential care home in Leicester. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing a mental health condition and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use. We take that last group seriously rather than reluctantly. People do not stop deserving a decent home because their history is complicated or because they have been difficult to place elsewhere. We assess carefully and we are honest when we are not the right setting, but we do not turn somebody away simply because their situation is untidy. The home runs around its residents. Nobody is woken to fit a rota, and how somebody spends the day is up to them. What we keep steady is the things that actually help: a predictable routine, staff who stay long enough to be known, decent food, and someone to talk to when things are hard. We keep in close contact with community mental health teams, GPs, social workers and specialist services, because this work only holds together when everybody involved is talking to each other. Families are kept informed where that is what the person wants, and visitors are welcome. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a placement or come and look round.
