About Oak House
We are Oak House, a residential care home in Leicester. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing a mental health condition. What we offer is residential care done carefully rather than anything elaborate. Help with washing and dressing. Support with medication. Meals people actually want to eat. Warm rooms, safe surroundings and company for those who want it. The home runs around its residents. Nobody is woken to suit a rota and how somebody spends the day is their own business. Some people like the sitting room and the conversation, others would rather keep to their own room, and neither choice needs defending to anybody. For people managing a mental health condition, we work steadily and without fuss. A settled routine, staff who do not change constantly and somebody to talk to when things are hard tend to matter far more than anything formal. We keep in contact with community teams and GPs where they are involved so that support is joined up. Our staff know residents well enough to notice when somebody is quieter or more withdrawn than usual, and we ring families early rather than waiting. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch if you would like to look round.
