About The Spinney
Here at The Spinney, we are a care home based in Preston, Lancashire, providing residential care for younger adults, including those living with a learning disability or autism. We believe that where you live should feel like home, and everything we do here is shaped around that idea. Our team gets to know each person as an individual. We take time to understand what matters to people, how they like their days to look, what brings them comfort and what brings them joy. For many of the people we support, routine and familiarity are really important, and we work hard to make sure that life here feels consistent, calm and genuinely theirs. Supporting people with a learning disability or autism requires more than good intentions. It takes real understanding, patience and a willingness to listen and adapt. Our staff receive ongoing training so that the support we offer reflects current thinking and, most importantly, the real needs of the people living with us. We communicate in the ways that work best for each person, whether that is through words, pictures, objects or simply spending quiet time together. We are proud that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of good. That matters to us, not because of the rating itself, but because it reflects the effort our whole team puts in every single day. Families and loved ones are always welcome here, and we encourage people to stay closely involved in the lives of those we support. We see ourselves as working alongside families, not separately from them. If you would like to find out more about life at The Spinney or come and have a look around, we would love to hear from you. Please do get in touch.
