About Long Lane Farm
Long Lane Farm is a small residential care home near Preston supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, including younger adults moving into adult life for the first time. We are not a clinical setting and we do not want to feel like one. This is a home where people have their own room, their own things and a genuine say in how the day runs. Some of the people we support have lived here for years and treat it exactly as home. Others are with us while they work out what independence looks like for them, and our job is to help them build the skills and the confidence that go with it, from cooking and budgeting to using transport and keeping in touch with friends and family. We pay close attention to communication. Not everyone tells us what they need in words, so we learn how each person shows us instead, and we get better at it over time. Routines and warning about change matter a great deal here, and we plan ahead rather than springing things on people. Respite stays are available too, giving families a break and giving the person staying a chance to try something new in a setting that is calm and familiar in its rhythms. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to visit, please contact us. We are happy for people to come more than once before deciding anything.
