About Deepdale Neurological Centre
Deepdale Neurological Centre in Preston is a care home for adults with neurological conditions and complex physical disabilities. We support younger adults and older people, including people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays, which for many families is the break that makes the rest of the year manageable. Neurological conditions affect people in very different ways, so we plan with each person individually and we pay attention to what they can do rather than only to what they need help with. Support with moving and handling, with posture and equipment, with eating and drinking, with communication and with the routines of the day is provided in a way that keeps as much control as possible in the hands of the person themselves. We work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, GPs and specialist consultants, because good neurological care depends on that input being timely rather than occasional. Beyond the clinical picture, this is where people live. Residents decide how their day goes, keep their own interests and their own company, furnish their rooms as they wish and see family without appointment. Where somebody communicates differently, we learn how and make sure everyone supporting them knows. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see the service for themselves.
