About Alexandra Court

Alexandra Court is a residential care home in Cleveleys, on the Lancashire coast. We are home to older people, both for the long term and for shorter respite stays when a family carer needs a rest. We keep our priorities plain. Good food, warm rooms, laundry that comes back, help when it is wanted and privacy when it is not. Residents go to bed and get up when it suits them rather than when a rota finds it convenient. An afternoon in which nothing was arranged and nobody was rushed is a perfectly good afternoon, whatever the sector likes to say about activity. What we do take real trouble over is knowing people: their working life, their family, which chair is theirs, how they take their tea, whether they want the news on. Those details are how a person stays a person here rather than becoming a resident, and none of them can be learned from paperwork. Being by the sea is genuinely useful. A walk along the front, weather permitting, does more for most people than anything we could organise indoors. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, because that is the visit that tells you something.
