About Woodlands Home for Older People
We are Woodlands Home for Older People in Accrington, Lancashire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite stays. Residential care at its best means helping with what has become difficult and leaving everything else in the hands of the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. Anything beyond our registration we arrange with district nurses and GPs rather than trying to cover it ourselves, and we are clear with families about where that line falls. Dementia shapes much of our day. Knowing who somebody has been tells us more than any list of symptoms does. A resident who spent forty years working to a particular rhythm or raising a family nearby still carries that with them, and a conversation that connects with it can turn an afternoon around. Respite stays are a real part of what we do. Guests are assessed and welcomed as fully as anyone living here permanently, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
