About Pendle Brook Care Home
Pendle Brook Care Home is a care home in Accrington in Lancashire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period. We would rather be straight with you from the start. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to write around that. The findings were taken seriously, there is an improvement plan we are working through, and we would much rather you heard it here than found it elsewhere. If you come and see us, ask us directly what has changed and what is still outstanding, and you will get a straight answer. What has not changed is how we think people should be treated. This is their home. Residents choose how their room looks, when they get up, what they do with the day and who comes to see them. We support people to keep doing what they can for themselves and to stay connected with family, friends and the things they have always cared about. Dementia care here rests on patience and a familiar day. We avoid surprises, we keep routines recognisable, and when somebody is distressed we look for the cause rather than simply trying to settle them. Real improvement comes from listening to residents and relatives and then acting, not recording. That is where our attention is, and we welcome anybody who wants to hold us to it.
