About Kingsbridge Road
Kingsbridge Road is a small residential care home in Kensington and Chelsea supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need a place for a shorter period. We are a house, and only a few people live here, which is deliberate. It means staff know everyone properly and the place runs at the pace of the people in it rather than to a rota. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and running the house as much as they want to, and get out into London to the things they actually enjoy. The detail is where this work is won or lost. How much noise a room holds. Whether a change of plan needs several days of warning. Which form of communication reaches a person, whether that is speech, symbols, writing or simply patience and time. We keep the staff team as consistent as we can, because a familiar face does more good here than any programme, and we train people to recognise what causes distress and head it off early. We work closely with families, social workers and health colleagues, and we welcome being told when we have got something wrong. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Visitors and referrers are welcome to come and see the house for themselves.
