About Poplars Care Home
Poplars Care Home is in Ruislip. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. Because the people who live here have very different needs, we plan for each of them individually rather than running one day that everybody has to fit into. For one resident a good day is calm, quiet and entirely predictable. For another it is busy, sociable and out in Ruislip. Both take thought to support properly. We give help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility, and we try to give only as much as is actually wanted. It is easy to erode somebody's independence simply by being helpful, and we keep an eye on that. For residents living with dementia and for autistic residents, we pay particular attention to environment, routine, familiarity of staff and giving proper warning before anything changes. Those details tend to decide whether a day goes well. Respite stays are planned with the same care as any other admission. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, which we treat as a foundation rather than a conclusion. Please come and visit Poplars if you are considering it. We would much rather you saw the home for yourself than relied on anything written here.
