About Milehouse Lane
Milehouse Lane is a residential care home in St Albans supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults moving towards a more independent life. Ordinary life is the point of the place. People here are supported to cook, shop, keep their own room exactly as they want it, get out to college, work or a club, and have a genuine say in how the week is arranged. For autistic residents we pay close attention to the things that make a home manageable: predictable routines, proper warning before anything changes, and a quiet place to go when the day has been too much. Support is offered at whatever level suits each person. We help where help is genuinely wanted and stand back where it is not, and we are as interested in what somebody can do independently as in what they need a hand with. Respite stays are available, which can give a family a break or serve as a trial for somebody considering a move. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you would like to visit or to talk about whether we could suit somebody, please get in touch and we will take things at your pace.
