About Lyndon House
Lyndon House is a residential care home in St Albans. We look after older people who need daily care and support, including many people living with dementia. Good dementia care is mostly unglamorous. It is familiar faces, meals at the times somebody expects them, routines that hold together from one day to the next, and staff who have enough time in the day to let a conversation go at its own pace. We build the house around those things rather than around a timetable that suits the building, and we would rather adapt to a person than ask a person to adapt to us. Life here is meant to be ordinary. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how to spend the day, in company or quietly with the paper. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come. We also offer respite stays for families needing a break or for someone who needs support for a while after a stay in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We are glad of it, though the better test is whether someone seems settled here after a few weeks, and that is what we keep asking ourselves. If you would like to look round, ring us and come at a time that suits you. We are happy for you to see the home on an ordinary day.
