About Friars Mead
Friars Mead is a residential care home in Kings Langley, caring for older people who can no longer manage comfortably on their own. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a real say in how their day is spent. Our approach is straightforward. Some people here are up early and busy, others prefer a slow start and a quiet sitting room, and both are perfectly reasonable. Meals matter a great deal, and so does the ordinary company of the house, so we put genuine effort into both. Respite stays are available too, whether somebody needs care for a short period after illness or a family carer needs a proper break. We plan short stays as carefully as a permanent move, so nobody arrives feeling temporary. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. That is reassuring, though the better test is whether people who live here seem settled and whether relatives feel able to raise something with us without worrying about how it will be taken. Please come and see us.
