About Jasmine House
Jasmine House is a residential care home in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with mental health conditions. Most of the people who live here are younger adults. A home for younger adults needs to be about building a life rather than managing a decline. People here have decades ahead of them, so we talk about work and college, money, cooking, travel, relationships and independence, and we expect people to take on more over time rather than less. Support is agreed with the person and shaped around them. Some need help with personal care and health needs. Others mainly want somebody alongside them so that a demanding world becomes manageable. For autistic residents in particular, predictable routine, clear information, honest notice of change and attention to sensory demands prevent far more distress than any response afterwards. Where somebody is struggling, we look first at what is being asked of them rather than treating the person as the difficulty. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat and how they spend their time, and we support them to keep up with family, friends and the things they were doing before they moved in. Respite stays are available and can be a sensible way to see whether we suit somebody. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to arrange a visit.
