About St Lucy Lodge
We are St Lucy Lodge, a residential care home in Haringey, north London. We support adults living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Supporting somebody with a mental health condition in a residential setting is mostly a matter of patience and steadiness. Some weeks go better than others, and what makes a placement work is that the person is not treated as a problem on the harder days. A settled environment, staff who do not take a difficult day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce do more than anything else. We work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers so that what happens here and what happens outside are genuinely joined up rather than running in parallel. People living here keep as much control over their own lives as they are able and wish to, covering ordinary decisions about the day and bigger ones about care and treatment. Where somebody needs support to make a decision, we give the support and take care not to make the decision for them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
