About Ashley House Care Home
Ashley House is a residential care home in Haringey, north London. We support older people and adults living with mental ill health, and we run the house at a domestic pace rather than an institutional one. We start with the person. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so that it does not depend on who happens to be on duty. Help with washing, dressing and medication is given quietly and at the time that suits. Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we work closely with community teams and involve the person properly in decisions about their own care rather than making them overhead. Stability matters in that work, so we keep the household calm, the routines steady and the staff familiar. This part of London is home to many communities and we ask rather than assume about food, language, prayer and routine. Meals are cooked here, visitors are welcome, and short respite stays are available, which can be a sensible way of finding out whether the house suits somebody before anyone commits. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to look round.
