About Us
Bere Grove Care Home is a residential care home in Waterlooville, Hampshire. We provide residential care for older people, for adults living with dementia and for younger adults who need this kind of support.
We help with the practical things: washing and dressing, meals, medication, keeping safe on the stairs and about the house. What we try not to do is take over. If somebody can still make their own tea, choose their own clothes or walk to the lounge unaided, that is theirs to keep, and our help is there for the parts that have become difficult.
A good deal of our work involves dementia. The lesson it keeps teaching us is that steadiness helps and hurry does not. Familiar faces, the same order to the day, patience when a conversation has to be had three times over. We ask families to tell us who the person has been, not only what they now need, because that is what allows us to be useful on a difficult day.
Meals are cooked here, visitors are welcome through the day, and we keep in regular touch with general practitioners and community teams so that health problems are caught early.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.
