About Edward Street
We are a residential care home on Edward Street in Widnes, supporting older people and younger adults. We care for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. With that range of people under one roof, a single routine would suit nobody, so we do not run one. People get up when they are ready, eat what appeals to them and spend their days as they choose. What stays constant is that staff are about, and that they know the people here well enough to see when somebody is struggling with something they would not say out loud. Support plans are written with the person and with anyone they want involved, and they are reviewed when circumstances change rather than at set intervals. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we build it up at their pace instead of deciding in advance what is realistic. Communication is central. We take time to learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure new staff learn it before working alone. Where a person has a visual or hearing impairment, that knowledge is shared with everybody. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
