About Elmdene
Elmdene is a residential care home in Greenwich, in south east London, supporting younger adults living with mental health conditions. Alongside permanent places we offer respite stays for people who need a period of support away from home. Mental health recovery is rarely a straight line, and we try to run the house in a way that accepts that. Some weeks somebody will want to be busy, cook for themselves, get out across London and manage most of their own routine. Other weeks the same person may need considerably more from us. We aim to be steady through both, and we do not treat a difficult period as a failure or as grounds for taking away independence that somebody has worked hard for. Support here is planned with the person, not handed to them. That means agreeing together what help looks like, what the early signs are when things become harder, and what somebody would like us to do at that point. We work alongside community mental health teams, GPs and families so that the people involved in a person's care are actually talking to one another. We also want people to have a life beyond the front door, including work, study, friendships and the ordinary business of a week. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see how the house feels in person.
