About Footsteps Medical Care
Footsteps Medical Care is a residential care home in Lydney, Gloucestershire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities, including those living with sight or hearing loss. Our approach is straightforward. We find out how each person communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what they want to be able to do, and we build support around those answers. For some people that means help with almost every part of the day. For others it means a light touch and someone nearby when things get difficult. Both are proper care. We pay as much attention to the building and the routine as to the support itself. Good lighting, clear signs, quiet spaces and a predictable rhythm to the day make a real difference to people with sensory impairments or sensory sensitivities, and they cost nothing but thought. Life here is meant to look like life anywhere. People go out, see family, take part in activities they have chosen and keep up interests they had before moving in. Where someone wants more independence, we work towards it in steps rather than deciding on their behalf that it is not possible. We also offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. If you would like to visit, please contact us and we will arrange a time that works for you.
