About Nazareth House
We are Nazareth House in Cheltenham, a residential care home in Gloucestershire. We provide a permanent home for older people who need support with everyday living, and we also offer respite stays for those who need care for a short period or whose usual carer needs a break. Moving into a care home is a significant thing to do, and the first weeks matter far more than any description of the building. We spend that time learning about the person rather than fitting them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they will not be persuaded to eat, what time they have always had their breakfast, whether they would rather be in company or left in peace. Those small facts are what turn a room into somewhere that feels like home. Life here belongs to the people living it. Getting up and going to bed when you choose, having visitors when it suits you, keeping up with church, family, hobbies and friendships. We are here to make those things possible, not to organise people's days for them. We take the practical side of care seriously as well. Food worth looking forward to, medication managed properly, quick attention when somebody is unwell, and straight conversations with families when something changes. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are glad of it, and we go on asking residents and relatives what we could be doing better here.
