About Brewster House
Brewster House is a residential care home in Maldon, Essex. We support older people who need daily care, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need residential support. We try to run the house so that it feels like a home, because for the people living here it is exactly that. People choose when they get up, what they eat and how they spend their time. For someone living with dementia, the ordinary rhythm of a day, the same faces and enough time to do things at their own pace, is the greater part of good care. We also take people for respite stays, whether to give a family carer a rest or to support someone recovering after a stay in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to dress that up. We know where our work fell short of the standard we want for people living here, and we are working through those areas with our team rather than waiting to be told again at the next inspection. If you are considering us for a relative, please ask us about it directly. We will answer honestly and show you what has changed since. You are welcome to visit and see the house as it is on an ordinary day, and to talk to the people who live here.
