About Longwood Place
Longwood Place is a residential care home in Langdon Hill, and we support adults with a range of needs, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, and those with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. Our starting point with anybody who comes to live here is a simple one. What does an ordinary good day look like for you, and what would you like to carry on doing yourself? The answers vary enormously, and so does the support that follows. Some people want a great deal of company and structure, others prefer their own room and their own company for much of the day, and both are entirely reasonable. Communication is something we take seriously. Where someone has a sensory impairment or finds speech difficult, we adapt to the person rather than expecting the person to adapt to us, and we make sure that everyone working here knows how a resident prefers to be approached. For people living with dementia we keep routines familiar and the pace gentle, and we work with families to learn the details that make a difference, from an old occupation to a favourite piece of music. We also offer respite stays for planned breaks and short term support. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome, and we would be glad to show you around.
