About Howard Lodge Care Centre
We are Howard Lodge Care Centre in Brentwood, Essex. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also support younger adults. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are genuinely proud of it, and we are also clear about what it does and does not mean. It is not a promise that nothing will ever go wrong here. It reflects the fact that we know the people who live here well, that our staff are properly supported, and that when something needs putting right we deal with it rather than explaining it away. In daily life that shows in small things. People get up and go to bed when they choose. Meals are what somebody actually wants to eat. Their own furniture and pictures come with them and their habits come first. For people living with dementia, we work with the person as they are now, knowing their history, spotting early what unsettles them and going at their pace. Families are part of this. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour, we tell them when something has changed rather than waiting to be asked, and we say plainly when we have made a mistake. Please ring us and come and see the home for yourself.
