About Amberley House
Amberley House is a residential care home in Enfield, north London. We provide a permanent home to older people who need support with daily living, and we also offer respite stays for planned breaks and for the times a family needs cover unexpectedly. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and getting safely about, and we try to do it so quietly that it feels like part of the day rather than a procedure. Where somebody can still manage something for themselves, they do. Rooms are people's own space, and visitors come when it suits them. A good deal of our work is with residents living with dementia, and with people who have physical disabilities or who live with sight or hearing loss. We keep the layout and the daily rhythm steady, we give people time to answer instead of filling the gap for them, and we learn enough about someone's earlier life to understand what is behind a worry. We also support people living with an eating disorder, where patience, consistency and an absence of judgement count for far more than anything we could promise in writing. We should be plain about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with the team and those areas are where our attention is concentrated now. Anyone considering Amberley House is welcome to come, see the place as it is, and ask us about it directly.
