About The Old Rectory
The Old Rectory is a residential care home in Rye, East Sussex. We provide a home for older people and for younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we try to keep the place feeling domestic rather than institutional. What that means in practice is fairly simple. People keep their own routines. People bring their own furniture and pictures if they want to. Meals are eaten together for those who like company and in private for those who do not. Rye is a small town and people who have lived here for years carry on going into it, seeing who they always saw and doing what they always did, with as much or as little help from us as is needed. Because the people living here have quite different needs, support is worked out individually rather than applied in a block. Someone may need a great deal of help with personal care and almost none with decisions, or the other way round, and both are entirely normal. We can take people for short respite stays too, which families often use to cover a holiday or a period of illness at home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please do contact us if you would like to come and see the house.
