About Ashring House
Ashring House is a residential care home in Lewes, East Sussex, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays for people who need a place for a shorter period. This is a house where people live their own lives rather than a setting where things are done to them. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and keeping the place going as much as they want to and are able to, and get out to what they enjoy in Lewes and around. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a regular club, that goes into the support plan rather than at its edges. The work is won in detail. How much noise a room holds. Whether a change of staff or plan needs flagging several days ahead. Which way of communicating genuinely reaches a person, whether that is speech, symbols, writing or simply unhurried time. Where somebody has a physical disability, we make sure equipment and layout help them do things for themselves rather than getting in the way. We keep the staff team consistent, train people to notice early signs of distress and prevent it, and work closely with families, social workers and health colleagues. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Visitors and referrers are welcome to come and see the house.
