About Willerfoss House
Willerfoss House is a residential care home in Withernsea supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and we take respite bookings. Withernsea is a small coastal town and the home reflects that. People know each other. Staff know families, sometimes across generations. Nothing here happens at speed for its own sake, and residents get up, eat and spend the day as they choose rather than as a timetable dictates. Much of our work is dementia care. We keep routines familiar, the building calm and the staff consistent, and we take our lead from the person rather than arguing with them about what is true. When someone becomes distressed we go looking for the reason, whether that is pain, noise, tiredness, hunger or something we have not thought of yet. Relatives usually know a great deal about what settles a person, so we ask and we use what they tell us. Respite guests are welcome and get exactly the same care as permanent residents. A planned break can be what keeps a family carer going, and there is nothing to apologise for in needing one. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are looking at homes in this part of the East Riding, please come and see us on an ordinary weekday and make up your own mind.
