About Shamrock House
Shamrock House is a residential care home in Goole. We support older people and adults living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays alongside longer term places. Supporting older people and people with mental health needs in the same home is something we have given real thought to. It works when the home is calm, when staff are consistent and when nobody is treated as a category. People here are known as individuals, with their own histories, habits and preferences, and the support is built from that rather than from a label. Day to day we help with personal care, medication, meals, appointments, paperwork and keeping in touch with family. Residents decide how to spend their time. We will encourage someone who has withdrawn to come and join in, and we will just as readily leave a person in peace when that is what they need. We work closely with community mental health teams and with local GPs, and we would rather raise a concern early than wait and see. Respite stays give family carers a break and can offer someone breathing space during a difficult period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it elsewhere. We know what was identified, there is work in hand, and we are happy to go through it. Please visit Shamrock House, ask us hard questions and judge the place on what you find.
