About Sandhall Park
We are Sandhall Park, a residential care home in Goole, East Yorkshire. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia and people managing a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with what has become hard work and leaving everything else where it belongs, which is with the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, moving about safely, and the everyday company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work alongside district nurses and GPs. Dementia shapes a good deal of our day. We have found that correcting somebody's account of things achieves nothing, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. Where a mental health condition is part of the picture, the same principles apply: consistency, staff who do not take a difficult day personally, and a routine people can lean on. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
