About Hanwell House
Hanwell House is a residential care home in Ealing. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we take respite stays. We keep our attention on the hours that decide what living somewhere is really like: early mornings when people need time rather than efficiency, and late evenings when the building goes quiet and somebody who cannot sleep wants company. Dementia care here rests on knowing people properly. We ask relatives early for the working life, the places and the music, because that information becomes much harder to gather later and it is what still connects when a good deal else has gone. Without it we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person. Ealing is mixed in language, faith and food, and we build the household around that rather than accommodating it at the edges. Being spoken to in your own language is not a small comfort when much else has changed. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives who visit often notice things we have stopped seeing, and we would rather they told us bluntly.
