About Marchfield House
Marchfield House is a residential care home in Ferndown, Dorset. We are a permanent home to older people, and we also offer respite stays for those who need care for a few weeks or whose family carer needs a rest. Most of our residents need help with personal care, moving about, medication and meals, and many are living with dementia. We have learned that what helps most is not complicated. Keep the day recognisable, keep the same faces in the building, leave people's own belongings where they put them, and do not hurry anybody. We also support people living with mental ill health, working alongside community mental health colleagues so that care here fits with the rest of someone's treatment. The house has comfortable sitting rooms, food cooked on site, and a garden that gets plenty of use when the Dorset weather cooperates. Residents choose how much they join in and how much they keep to themselves, and both choices are respected. Visitors can come when it suits them rather than when it suits our rota. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Deciding on a care home is a hard thing to do, so please come and see us more than once if that helps, and bring your questions with you.
