About The Hyde Care Home

The Hyde Care Home is a residential home in Bridport, Dorset. We support older people and younger adults living here, including many people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Our approach is unhurried on purpose. A great deal of what makes residential care feel good or feel institutional comes down to pace, and we would rather someone took twenty minutes over getting dressed with a bit of help than be moved through the morning to suit a rota. For people living with dementia, we keep things familiar and consistent, and we pay attention to the details that anchor a day. Where a resident has a sight or hearing impairment we adapt how we communicate with them properly, making sure glasses and hearing aids are working and that nobody is left out of a conversation simply because it was easier to talk around them. Respite stays are available, whether a family carer needs a planned break or someone needs a period of recovery and company after illness or a hospital admission. We treat short stays with the same care as permanent ones, because a fortnight still has to feel welcoming. Relatives are welcome throughout the day and we would always rather answer a question early than have someone worry about it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
