About The Red House Residential Home

The Red House Residential Home is at Yelverton, on the edge of Dartmoor. We care for older people who need support with everyday life, including people whose physical disability means they need help to move about safely. What we provide is help with the ordinary business of the day, given without fuss: assistance to wash and dress, medication managed properly and on time, meals cooked on the premises, support to get about safely and staff available through the night. We try to keep the house feeling domestic rather than institutional, so residents decide when they get up, where they spend the day and who they want to see. Where people need help to move, we take the time that doing it safely and comfortably actually requires, using the proper equipment and explaining as we go. Done well it is unhurried and leaves people feeling secure rather than handled. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, whether to give a family carer a break or to support somebody after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Devon are welcome to visit.
