About The Holt
The Holt is a residential care home in Exeter supporting adults with a learning disability or autism and adults living with mental health conditions. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they have been sent, and we run the household accordingly. Support here is individual. It can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, managing money and getting to appointments, and it takes in the things that make a week worth having: friendships, going out, keeping up an interest, having plans of your own. A settled and predictable routine matters greatly to most of the people we support, as does communication pitched to suit the individual. We give people the time to do things their own way rather than stepping in for the sake of speed, and where somebody wants more independence we plan support that draws back as their confidence grows. Most of the people we support are younger adults. Respite stays are available too, which can give a family carer a real break or provide a settled place to be during a difficult period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.
