About Westmead

Westmead is a residential care home in Braunton. We support older people needing help with daily living, including those living with dementia, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with a physical disability. We also support some younger adults. Our care is practical and personal: help to wash and dress, medication given properly, meals cooked here, support to move about safely and staff available at night. Support is planned around the individual rather than a house routine everybody has to fit. We want to be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are working through the points raised, with particular attention to record keeping, staff supervision and how consistently care plans are followed. We would sooner set that out ourselves and invite your questions than have you come across it elsewhere, and relatives are part of that work because they are the ones who can say whether things have genuinely changed. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Families across north Devon are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
